Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth Assesses Operational Readiness of Bison Division at Secunderabad Military Station

On Sunday, Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, who serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, visited the Secunderabad Military Station. The purpose of his visit was to assess the operational readiness of the Bison Division.

During his visit, Lt Gen Seth received a comprehensive briefing on the division's preparedness, current training efforts, and future development plans, especially concerning the integration of new technology. He engaged with officers and troops, offering guidance to enhance their operational and training efforts.

The Army Commander praised the division for its innovative efforts in incorporating modern technology into its operations. This approach is in line with the Indian Army's "Decade of Transformation," which focuses on self-reliance, agility, and adaptability to handle evolving security threats.

The Bison Division, building on its historical legacy as the 17th Infantry Division during the 1961 Goa Liberation, continues to demonstrate operational excellence while evolving to meet modern challenges.

Lt Gen Seth took command of the Southern Command in July 2024, following a distinguished career that includes instructional positions at the School of Armoured Warfare and being recognized as the top student at the Defence Services Staff College. His leadership is crucial to advancing the command’s transformation agenda and maintaining a robust defense posture at India's borders.
