Lt Gen Devendra Sharma Reviews Infrastructure and Development Projects at RIMC Dehradun

Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, who is the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), conducted a review of infrastructure projects and development initiatives at the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in Dehradun. During his visit, he was welcomed by RIMC Commandant Colonel Rahul Agarwal. Colonel Agarwal emphasized the institution's consistent excellence in both academic achievements and military preparatory outcomes, particularly highlighting success in the UPSC's NDA and NA entrance examinations.
RIMC has reinforced its reputation as a leading feeder institution for the Indian Armed Forces by producing an impressive number of successful candidates in the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I) 2025. As reported on April 28, 2025, a total of 28 cadets from RIMC successfully passed the UPSC examination, with one cadet achieving the All India Rank 1 and five others ranking among the top 20.

Lt Gen Sharma, who has served in the military for over four decades with notable leadership in counter-terrorism and high-altitude operations, commended the RIMC faculty for their dedication and high standards in cadet training. He stated that the college plays a crucial role in developing future military leaders who are in alignment with India’s strategic objectives and operational readiness, as outlined in the 2023 Journal of Defence Studies.
The General's itinerary included discussions with staff and cadets, an examination of the campus facilities, and a reaffirmation of RIMC's fundamental role in defence education within India. Established in 1922, RIMC has been instrumental in preparing young aspirants for various branches of the military, embedding values of discipline, leadership, and national service. The institution's recent success in the NDA results continues to affirm its status as one of India’s most accomplished military preparatory schools.
