Lieutenant Amit Chaudhary Heads Mixed Scouts Contingent in Republic Day 2026 Parade

On January 26, 2026, the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi saw Lieutenant Amit Chaudhary leading the first Mixed Scouts Contingent along Kartavya Path, showcasing India's military prowess and unity. This contingent, comprising members from six esteemed scout battalions, demonstrated the Indian Army's ability to integrate diverse regional skills and operate effectively in challenging environments.

Lieutenant Chaudhary, a second-generation officer from the 2 Arunachal Scouts, continues a family tradition of military service. His inspiration stems from his father's participation in the 1990 Republic Day Parade, turning an early aspiration into a significant accomplishment. He shared, "Following in my father's footsteps on Kartavya Path fills me with immense pride in participating in the Republic Day parade." This reflects the ongoing contributions of military families to the nation's security.

The Mixed Scouts Contingent includes personnel from the Arunachal Scouts, Sikkim Scouts, Ladakh Scouts, Garhwal Scouts, Dogra Scouts, and Kumaon Scouts. These units are known for their expertise in high-altitude and frontier operations under severe weather conditions. Lieutenant Chaudhary emphasized the group's diversity, stating, "Our contingent embodies all scout battalions, incorporating members from Arunachal Scouts, Sikkim Scouts, Ladakh Scouts, Garhwal Scouts, Dogra Scouts, and Kumaon Scouts." During the parade, the unit marched with precise coordination, equipped for extreme cold with gear like the Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS) for thermal control, RI boots for snow traction, and Polaroid eyewear to protect against the glare of high-altitude sunlight. These provisions enable missions in freezing temperatures, preventing cold injuries and maintaining effectiveness.

The 77th Republic Day Parade highlighted the readiness of India's armed forces, with the Mixed Scouts Contingent leading the infantry section, symbolizing determination and endurance. For Lieutenant Chaudhary, leading this group not only fulfills a personal ambition but also signifies the Indian Army's advancement by integrating modern technology with diverse regional experience.

Through his leadership of this contingent, Lieutenant Amit Chaudhary embodies the dedication and skill essential to India's defense, linking generations of service while enhancing a major national event with a display of unity and bravery.
