Jaipur to Host Historic Indian Army Day Parade Outside Cantonment
For the first time, Jaipur will host the Indian Army Day Parade on January 15, marking a historic event in the Army's efforts to engage with the public. The parade will take place on Mahal Road, as confirmed by officials on Monday.
This year represents a departure from tradition as the Army Day parade will be held outside an Army cantonment, offering the public a unique opportunity to observe the Indian Army's bravery and discipline firsthand. The event will feature the Army's operational successes, including highlights of Operation Sindoor.
Army Day Events Begin with Medical Outreach
The Army Day celebrations kicked off with a medical camp at the Military Hospital in Jaipur, organized for ex-servicemen, war widows, and their families. Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari attended the event as the chief guest.
During his address, Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, Army Commander of the South Western Command, emphasized the extensive veteran community in the area. He pointed out that the command supports around 3.70 lakh ex-servicemen and nearly 7 lakh dependent family members, including approximately 31,000 heart patients and 16,000 orthopedic patients, highlighting the need for ongoing welfare initiatives.
Taking the Parade to the People
Lt Gen Singh mentioned that until 2022, the Army Day parade was held in Delhi. Following an initiative by the Prime Minister, the event has since been hosted in various cities such as Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Pune. Now, Jaipur joins this list, underscoring the Army's commitment to connecting with citizens nationwide.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari expressed pride in Rajasthan hosting the event, noting that citizens enjoy safety due to the vigilance and sacrifices made by India's armed forces.
A Proud Moment for Jaipur
The Jaipur parade is anticipated to attract significant public participation, featuring ceremonial drills, marching contingents, military hardware, and operational showcases. This event will celebrate the Army's traditions while strengthening its relationship with the public.
