Indian Navy's Inaugural Chennai Half-Marathon Set for December 14

The Indian Navy is set to organize its inaugural half marathon in Chennai on December 14, drawing an expected 10,000 participants. This event aims to encourage fitness, national unity, and social awareness, focusing on the themes of Drug-Free India, Women Power, and Stand Against Online Gambling.

Commodore Suvarat Magon, the Naval Officer-in-Charge for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, announced the marathon at INS Adyar Naval Headquarters, emphasizing that it is more than just a sporting event.

"This competition will not be like the usual marathons. It is an attempt to unite people to improve physical strength, national unity, and the spirit of service," he stated.

The marathon will be divided into three categories:

Category Eligibility
INS Adyar Half Marathon (21.1 km) Open to participants above 18 years.
INS Parundu Run (10 km) Open to participants above 15 years.
INS Pallava Fun Run (5 km) Open to all age groups.

Commodore Magon also revealed the official race T-shirt and announced a total prize pool of ₹10 lakh for the various categories.

Participants will be provided with essential amenities, which include medical assistance, hydration points, and ambulance support throughout the route.

This half marathon is part of a broader series of fitness events spearheaded by the Navy across the nation, aiming to promote a healthy lifestyle and strengthen the connection between the Armed Forces and the public.
