Indian Coast Guard Commissions 'Adamya', First Advanced Fast Patrol Vessel in New Fleet

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has officially welcomed 'Adamya', the first Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) in a series of eight being constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL). This commissioning, held in Goa, represents a significant enhancement to the ICG's fleet, emphasizing advanced technology and local innovation in maritime operations.
'Adamya' distinguishes itself as the inaugural FPV in the ICG's arsenal to be equipped with Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPPs) and domestically developed gearboxes. These features are designed to enhance the vessel's maneuverability and adaptability in operations, particularly in high-stakes scenarios such as coastal surveillance and rapid-response missions.

The vessel is outfitted with advanced weaponry and systems, including a 30mm CRN-91 gun, two 12.7mm stabilized remote-controlled guns with fire control systems, an Integrated Bridge System (IBS), an Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS), and an Automated Power Management System (APMS). These sophisticated systems are set to significantly boost the Coast Guard's operational capability, enabling precision in maritime law enforcement, rescue operations, and the protection of India's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
Constructed entirely by GSL, 'Adamya' reflects India's burgeoning shipbuilding prowess and supports the national initiative of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). With the completion of all eight FPVs, the ICG’s rapid response efficiency is expected to be greatly enhanced, allowing for quicker interventions in emergencies and improved maritime awareness.
The inclusion of 'Adamya' not only strengthens India's coastal defense but also highlights the strategic focus on modernizing the Coast Guard fleet with cutting-edge, locally developed platforms.
