Indian Army’s National Integration Tour Takes Sikkim Students to Delhi, GOC Interacts With Youth

Students from Sikkim’s Mangan district travelled to New Delhi on a National Integration Tour supported by the Indian Army, gaining first-hand exposure to the national capital and meeting senior military leadership during the visit.

The tour brought young participants from one of Sikkim’s mountainous districts to the centre of the country’s political and cultural life, allowing them to experience different dimensions of India’s social and national landscape. The initiative is designed to give students from remote and border regions an opportunity to see parts of the country they may not otherwise encounter in their everyday lives.

During the visit, the students interacted with the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Delhi Area. The interaction was centred on cultural exchange, mutual understanding and meaningful engagement with the youth, with the senior officer encouraging the students to make full use of the experience offered by the tour.

National Integration Tours organised by the Indian Army are intended to familiarise students with India’s diversity, development and institutions through visits to important places across the country. The programme places particular emphasis on young people from remote and border areas, exposing them to different regions and helping broaden their outlook.

The Mangan district tour reflects the Indian Army’s continuing engagement with communities in remote parts of the country and its emphasis on national integration. Through such interactions and exposure to different cultures and institutions, the Army aims to help young participants develop a broader perspective and serve as ambassadors of national unity.

The initiative also fits into the Army’s wider work in youth empowerment and community outreach, particularly in strategically important border states such as Sikkim.
