Indian Army Hosts Army Aviation Flight Safety Conference 2026 in New Delhi
New Delhi, November 2, 2026: The Indian Army on Monday held the Army Aviation Annual Flight Safety Conference 2026 at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, bringing together representatives of the three Armed Services and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to focus on aviation safety, risk reduction and operational best practices.
The conference was designed as a forum for strengthening coordination between the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and aviation equipment manufacturers. Discussions centred on improving flight safety standards while also supporting the operational effectiveness of Army Aviation, which continues to operate in demanding environments across the country.
Participants examined a range of safety-related issues, including risk mitigation strategies, operational challenges and the adoption of practices that can help make flying operations safer. A major theme of the deliberations was the need for a proactive safety culture — one that identifies possible risks early and reinforces preventive measures to reduce aviation-related incidents.

The presence of OEMs at the conference highlighted the importance of cooperation between military aviation operators and the defence aviation industry. Such interaction allows technical discussions on aircraft performance, maintenance practices, equipment reliability and ways to improve safety standards across the fleet.

Army Aviation has a critical role in supporting Indian Army operations, particularly in high-altitude areas, remote border regions and other challenging terrain. Its helicopters are used for reconnaissance, surveillance, troop transportation, casualty evacuation, logistics support and other operational tasks.

Because Army Aviation operates under such demanding conditions, maintaining high flight safety standards is essential for mission readiness, safeguarding personnel and protecting valuable aviation assets. The conference underlined that safety must remain embedded in everyday operations even as the forces maintain a high level of preparedness.
The annual gathering also reflected the shared commitment of the armed services and industry stakeholders to strengthening India’s military aviation safety ecosystem through continuous learning, improved coordination and the exchange of operational experience.
The Army Aviation Annual Flight Safety Conference 2026 concluded with a renewed focus on risk reduction, operational excellence and the development of a proactive safety culture across Army Aviation formations.
