Indian Army Enhances Combat Readiness with Specialized Training Program in Tripura

The Indian Army's Red Shield Division, part of the Spear Corps, has initiated an advanced combat training program at a Tripura facility. This initiative is focused on enhancing troop preparedness for terrain-specific and asymmetric warfare, thereby boosting India's operational readiness in the Northeast.

Recently, Major General S.S. Kartikeya, General Officer Commanding of the Red Shield Division, assessed the multi-domain training program. The program comprises modules on jungle warfare, precision firing drills, drone usage, obstacle navigation, and simulated special operations, all designed to address the complex terrain and emerging threats in the Northeast.

The facility is strategically positioned to replicate the region’s dense jungles and challenging topography, helping troops develop situational awareness and adaptability for counter-insurgency scenarios. This training initiative coincides with rising tensions and frequent insurgent activities in states such as Manipur, where the Army has recently executed successful weapon recovery operations.

Officials highlighted that this advanced training supplements the work of the Counter-Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School in Mizoram, which has trained thousands of soldiers and security personnel. By combining technology with tactical exercises, the program aims to enhance survivability and mission success in high-risk environments.

Emphasizing resilience, discipline, and real-world combat scenarios, the training reflects the Army's proactive approach to ensuring peace and stability in the Northeast. It also aligns with the national goal of strengthening internal security through a modernized, region-specific military strategy.
