Indian Army Announces TES 56 Cut-Off Marks and SSB Interview Eligibility
The Indian Army has announced the cut-off marks for the Technical Entry Scheme (TES) 56. Candidates who secured at least 60% in their Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) cumulative score have been shortlisted for the Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview. Furthermore, candidates must have a Common Rank List (CRL) rank of above 2,00,000 to qualify for this shortlist. The SSB Interviews are scheduled to be held at Prayagraj (Allahabad), Bangalore, Bhopal, and Jalandhar.

The Technical Entry Scheme (TES) is a distinguished pathway for candidates who have completed their 10+2 education. Those who successfully secure a place through the TES entry are given Permanent Commission in the Indian Army. The training duration for TES candidates spans four years, with the TES 56 course anticipated to commence in January 2027.
The TES training program is structured over four years and is divided into two phases:
Phase I: This phase involves Integrated Basic Military Training and Engineering Training at institutions such as the College of Military Engineering (CME) in Pune, Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) in Mhow, or Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) in Secunderabad, lasting for three years.
Phase II: This phase includes Integrated Basic Military Training and Engineering Training for one year at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun or another designated Pre Commission Training Academy (PCTA).
Upon completing the four-year training program successfully, candidates are awarded an Engineering degree. However, this degree does not grant any ante date seniority.
The selection process for TES candidates involves a two-stage procedure at the SSB:
Stage I: Candidates who pass this stage move on to Stage II, while those who do not are sent back on the same day.
Stage II: Candidates clearing this stage undergo a five-day interview process, followed by a medical examination.
Those recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will receive a Joining Letter for training based on their merit and vacancy availability, assuming all eligibility criteria are met.
With a high number of candidates appearing for SSB in technical entries, competition is intense. To improve your chances, aim for a 90% score in the Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) test and deliver an exceptional story with outstanding narration. Stage II encompasses Psychology, Group Testing Officer (GTO) tasks, and the Personal Interview; consistent practice with specially curated SSB workbooks can be advantageous. Regular practice significantly enhances the prospects of joining the Indian Army.
The TES 56 cut-off marks have established a high standard for those aspiring to join the Indian Army through this esteemed entry route. With thorough training and a rigorous selection process, TES candidates can anticipate a fulfilling career in the Indian Army, starting with their training in January 2027.
