Indian Armed Forces to Launch Integrated Joint Operations Control Centre in Delhi by 2026

The Indian Armed Forces are set to enhance their command and control capabilities with the establishment of a tri-services Joint Operations Control Centre (JOCC) in the Delhi Cantonment area by May 2026. This development marks a critical advancement toward integrated military operations.

Personnel from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force will be stationed at the JOCC, which aims to provide senior commanders with a comprehensive, real-time operational overview across all military domains. The initiative is designed to promote joint operations and facilitate quicker, more coordinated reactions to new threats.

The decision to operationalize the JOCC follows insights gained from Operation Sindoor, a significant cross-border mission carried out in May 2025 in retaliation to a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. This operation underscored the necessity for integrated and centralized command systems among the three service branches.

Moreover, alongside the JOCC, plans are in progress to set up a deep underground command and control center at another location to ensure operational continuity and resilience during intense conflicts.

The concept of integrated theatre commands, closely tied to the JOCC, has been a topic of discussion in various meetings of the Chiefs of Staff Committee, under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff. Recommendations have been forwarded to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for further evaluation by the Ministry of Defence.

Theatre Command proposals are anticipated to be a central focus at the forthcoming Joint Commanders’ Conference in Jaipur on May 7–8. Senior military officials and defence authorities will examine the restructuring of India’s command and control framework. These reforms aim to establish unified commands for Northern, Western, and Maritime theatres to effectively tackle evolving security challenges.

The creation of the JOCC is a significant milestone in India's pursuit of an integrated warfighting capability, improving coordination, efficiency, and readiness across its armed forces.
