Havildar Rohit Choudhary of JAK LI Adjudged Best Student at JLA Bareilly Course

The Leadership & Management Course at the Junior Leaders Academy (JLA), Bareilly, concluded on September 9, 2026, after training junior personnel from the Indian Armed Forces, paramilitary forces and four friendly foreign countries.

The course brought together junior leaders from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Assam Rifles and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), reflecting a cross-service and inter-organisational approach to leadership development. In all, 34 junior leaders from Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal and Ivory Coast also took part in the programme.

According to the academy, the course was aimed at building operationally relevant leadership and management skills in junior leaders who are expected to take on greater responsibilities in increasingly complex operational settings. The training was designed to prepare them for the demands of present and future battlefields, where leadership now requires not only resilience and decision-making ability but also technological awareness.

Participants were exposed to instruction intended to strengthen their knowledge, resilience, leadership qualities and technological acumen. The programme also created a forum for personnel from different services and countries to interact, share experiences and develop a wider understanding of leadership in modern military environments.

The presence of personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Assam Rifles and ITBP underlined the importance of leadership training across India’s military and paramilitary organisations. The participation of junior leaders from Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal and Ivory Coast added an international dimension and contributed to professional military cooperation.

Havildar Rohit Choudhary of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry was named the Best Student of the course for his overall performance.

The Junior Leaders Academy at Bareilly is tasked with developing leadership qualities among junior ranks and preparing them to lead personnel effectively while adapting to the technological and operational demands of modern warfare.
