Havildar Arun Kumar of Indian Army Clinches Gold at 2025 Senior Asian Judo Championship
In a remarkable achievement for both the Indian Army and the nation, Havildar Arun Kumar, a member of the Rajputana Rifles currently assigned to the Trishakti Corps, has secured a gold medal in the 73 kg category at the Senior Asian Judo Championship 2025. This esteemed tournament took place in Chinese Taipei from July 12 to 13.
Kumar’s exceptional performance in this International Judo Federation (IJF)-endorsed event represents a notable accomplishment for India's expanding judo community and highlights the enduring martial prowess of the Indian Army. His triumph showcases the rigorous physical training and discipline fostered by the Trishakti Corps, which is based in Sukna and plays a crucial role in defending Sikkim and the sensitive Siliguri Corridor.
The Rajputana Rifles, one of the most prestigious and historic regiments in the Indian Army, has added another accolade to its impressive record with this international victory. Established in 1775, the regiment is renowned for its bravery and has been awarded four Victoria Crosses alongside over 50 gallantry awards.
Havildar Arun Kumar’s gold medal also represents a significant boost for India’s position in judo, particularly as the sport gains momentum under the leadership of the Judo Federation of India, which was established in 1965.
