Gunfight Erupts Between Security Forces and Lashkar-e-Taiba in South Kashmir's Kulgam

In South Kashmir's Kulgam district, a significant gunfight is taking place between security forces and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants in the Akhal Devsar area. This confrontation began earlier today as part of a coordinated counter-terrorism effort by the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Security officials reported that the operation was launched after receiving intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the densely wooded Akhal forest. During their search, the troops came under heavy fire from the terrorists, leading to a retaliatory exchange of gunfire.

Preliminary information indicates that two to three heavily armed LeT terrorists are currently engaged in the gunfight with security personnel. The area has been sealed off, and additional forces have been dispatched to prevent the militants from escaping and to protect civilians in nearby villages.

This ongoing operation highlights the persistent threat posed by Pakistan-supported terrorist groups in the Kashmir Valley, despite the security forces' continued vigilance in the area. Further updates are anticipated as the situation unfolds.
