Gujarat-Cadre IPS Probationer Kuhoo Garg Wins Best Drill Medal at SVPNPA Hyderabad
Hyderabad, October 15, 2026: Indian Police Service probationer Ms. Kuhoo Garg of the 78th Regular Recruits (78 RR) batch has been awarded the Medal for Best Probationer in Drill at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad.
Garg, who has been allotted the Gujarat cadre, received the recognition during the Director’s Parade held at the Academy on October 12, 2026, ahead of the batch’s Passing Out Parade.
The drill award is one of the key honours presented to IPS probationers at the end of their academy training. It reflects performance in a component that is central to police preparation, where trainees are assessed on discipline, precision, coordination, command responsiveness and leadership. At SVPNPA, drill forms part of the larger effort to shape future officers for law enforcement duties and the management of police formations.
The Director’s Parade featured 151 officer trainees, including 16 officers from foreign countries, and marked an important stage in the professional training of the 78 RR batch. The parade was commanded by IPS probationer Gourav Uppal of the Punjab cadre, while SVPNPA Director Sujeet Pandey inspected the parade and addressed the officer trainees.
Several other probationers were also recognised for strong performances during training. Bihar-cadre IPS probationer Vijay Raghav Goyal received the Mehta Cup and the Medal for Best Probationer in Musketry. AGMUT-cadre IPS probationer Kanika Yadav was awarded the Medal for Best Lady Probationer in Physical Training. Pema Wangdi, an officer trainee from the Royal Bhutan Police, received the Medal for Best Gentleman Probationer in Physical Training.
SVPNPA in Hyderabad is India’s premier institution for training IPS officers. Its training programme combines academic instruction with physical fitness, drill, weapons handling, leadership development and practical policing skills, designed to prepare probationers for the responsibilities they will assume after completion of their academy training and field assignments.
For Garg, the medal adds a notable achievement to her training record as she moves closer to taking up policing responsibilities in Gujarat. The honour reflects her performance at the Academy and the standards expected of officers entering the Indian Police Service.
