General Upendra Dwivedi Engages with Australian Army, Strengthens Bilateral Training Cooperation
General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, is currently on an official visit to Australia. During his stay, he visited the Australian Army’s Forces Command and the Headquarters of the 2nd Division. There, he conducted detailed discussions with the Acting Commander of Forces Command and the Commander of the 2nd Division.

The discussions concentrated on strengthening bilateral training cooperation and enhancing interoperability between the two armies. They also focused on identifying new areas for collaboration and cooperation in niche and emerging technologies, indicating a shared focus on developing a future-ready force.

General Dwivedi was provided with comprehensive briefings on the operational roles, training philosophies, and organisational structures of the formations. The professional exchanges during his visit highlighted the common operational ethos between the Indian and Australian Armies and emphasized a forward-looking approach to joint capacity building.

The visit highlighted the strengthening India–Australia defence partnership and underscored the commitment of both nations to deepen military-to-military engagement. This collaboration contributes to regional security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
