Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi engaged in discussions with Lieutenant General Md Mainur Rahman from the Bangladesh Army during the United Nations Training and Cooperation Conference (UNTCC) 2025. The two military leaders reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing cooperation in defense, training partnerships, and coordination in United Nations peacekeeping missions.

The Indian Army shared a post on X mentioning that General Upendra Dwivedi had a constructive dialogue with Lieutenant General Md Mainur Rahman at UNTCC 2025. The post highlighted the leaders' commitment to strengthening defense cooperation and coordination in peacekeeping efforts.

This meeting is indicative of the ongoing momentum in the military relations between India and Bangladesh, focusing on building mutual trust, strategic alignment, and capacity development within multilateral frameworks. Both parties emphasized their common goal of maintaining regional peace and stability, while also advancing collaboration in defense technology and humanitarian operations.

Previously, on August 28, BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chowdhury, speaking at a joint press conference with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Dhaka, noted that collaboration between the security agencies of the two nations remains robust. He stressed the importance of lawful actions against illegal border crossings and disclosed that approximately 550 Bangladeshi nationals had been handed over to BGB in recent months, following established bilateral agreements.

Chowdhury further revealed that over 2,400 verification cases involving Bangladeshi nationals are pending with the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, with some cases extending over five years. He emphasized the operational coordination between BGB and BSF to ensure timely processing and deportation through agreed-upon mechanisms, while considering humanitarian aspects for those not involved in criminal activities.
