Garud Commando Force Welcomes New Graduates at Maroon Beret Parade
A Maroon Beret Ceremonial Parade took place at the Garud Regimental Training Centre (GRTC) located at Air Force Station Chandinagar on May 23, 2026. This event marked the successful completion of training for new operatives in the Garud Commando Force.
Air Vice Marshal Rahul Gupta, who serves as the Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations – Space), attended the parade as the Chief Guest.
Upon arrival, the Commandant of the Garud Regimental Training Centre welcomed the Chief Guest and provided him with a briefing on various elements of the rigorous Special Forces training program.

Addressing the newly inducted Garud commandos, Air Vice Marshal Gupta extended his congratulations for their successful completion of the challenging course. He emphasized the necessity of ongoing training and enhancement of operational skills in response to the changing security landscape.
The Chief Guest awarded the prestigious Maroon Beret, Garud Proficiency Badge, and Special Forces Tabs to the trainees who completed the course. Additionally, trophies were presented to those who exhibited outstanding performance.
The passing out parade included demonstrations of specialized combat skills. These included combat firing, hostage rescue drills, assault explosive techniques, obstacle crossing, wall climbing, slithering, rappelling, and military martial arts.
Officials noted that the Maroon Beret Parade represents the trainees' transformation into elite Special Forces operators following the completion of a strenuous physical and mental training regimen.
The newly inducted Garud commandos are anticipated to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Air Force. This is particularly relevant for specialized missions, given the expanding role of Air Force Special Forces in operations such as Operation Sindoor.
