Her journey toward the Air Force began during her college years at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, University of Delhi. Here, she joined the National Cadet Corps (NCC), a platform known for grooming future military leaders.
Rising to the rank of Cadet Sergeant Major (CSM), Dhankar demonstrated organizational skills, leadership under pressure, and personal discipline. Her achievements were recognized within her NCC unit, where her journey became an inspiration for other cadets. The disciplined environment of the NCC prepared her mentally and physically for her role as an officer.
With a clear purpose, Dhankar appeared for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT), a highly competitive entry point into the Indian Air Force. Successfully passing the test, she was recommended by the 2 Air Force Selection Board (AFSB), Mysore, for the Administration branch under the M AFCAT (W) 551 entry.
She was commissioned as a Flying Officer on June 17, 2023, as part of the 211 Short Service Commission (Women) Ground Duty Course and soon advanced to the rank of Flight Lieutenant, demonstrating both her professional competence and the Air Force’s merit-based promotion system.
As an Administration branch officer, she handles responsibilities crucial to the Air Force's operational efficiency, including personnel management, logistics, and organizational planning.
Flight Lieutenant Dhankar stayed largely away from public spotlight until her selection for the Republic Day Parade 2026. On January 26, she will assist the President of India in unfurling the national flag at Kartavya Path, an honor designated for officers who embody professionalism and dedication.
