DSSC Officers Visit Trishakti Corps in Sikkim, Discuss Regional Security with GOC

Sikkim, November 2, 2026: Officers undergoing the Defence Services Staff Course at the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington, visited the Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps to gain first-hand exposure to the operational environment and regional security dynamics in a strategically important sector.

During the visit, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Trishakti Corps interacted with the visiting officers and shared his perspective on the evolving security situation, the operational challenges faced by the formation, and the strategic considerations that shape the Corps’ area of responsibility.

The exchange gave the student officers an opportunity to look beyond classroom instruction and understand the realities of military operations in a region of high strategic significance. It also allowed them to engage directly with a senior field commander on issues related to military leadership, operational planning and regional security challenges.

DSSC Wellington is among India’s premier military training institutions and prepares officers of the Indian Armed Forces, as well as officers from friendly foreign countries, for higher command and staff responsibilities. The institution’s curriculum is designed to equip officers for future leadership roles through a combination of academic study and professional military training.

The visit to Trishakti Corps reflected the Indian Army’s focus on combining formal military education with practical operational exposure. Such engagements are intended to help future military leaders develop a more complete understanding of contemporary security challenges by observing operational realities at the formation level and by interacting with commanders responsible for managing them.
