DRDO to Highlight Indigenous Defence Technologies at Paris Air Show 2025

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is poised to highlight India's advanced aerospace and defence technologies at the 2025 Paris Air Show. This event underscores the nation's growing reputation as a leader in global defence innovation. In a statement released on social media, DRDO emphasized that its involvement will highlight India's focus on self-reliance, strategic capabilities, and international partnerships.
Scheduled to take place from June 16 to 22 at Le Bourget, France, the event will feature DRDO's showcase of indigenous advancements. These include next-generation unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), cutting-edge avionics, and various domestically developed defence systems. Notable among the exhibits is the Astra Beyond-Visual-Range (BVR) air-to-air missile, capable of targeting fast-moving, supersonic threats under any weather conditions. The Astra Mk-I has been integrated with the Indian Air Force's SU-30 Mk-I aircraft, enhancing the nation's aerial combat capabilities.
The exhibition will also present the Tejas Mk-2, an upgraded Light Combat Aircraft from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), showcasing India's advancements in fighter jet production. Additionally, the Weapon Locating Radar (WLR) 'Swathi', developed in collaboration with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), will be on display, known for its precision in detecting and tracking enemy artillery.
Another significant highlight will be the Airborne Early Warning & Control System (AEW&C), a sophisticated system designed to detect and track enemy aircraft and UAVs, offering a strategic advantage. The exhibition will also feature HELINA, a third-generation fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missile for helicopters, demonstrating India's expertise in precision weaponry.
Improvements to the Dornier aircraft, part of the SHYEN project, will be showcased, highlighting enhancements in mission performance through advanced payload integration and updated avionics.
DRDO's presence at the Paris Air Show marks a crucial step in India's global defence engagement, reinforcing its commitment to self-reliance through the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative. The event presents a platform for India to further explore defence collaborations, technology exchanges, and industrial partnerships with major global players in the aerospace and defence sectors.
