Defence Cyber Agency Initiates 'Cyber Suraksha' Exercise to Bolster National Cybersecurity

The Defence Cyber Agency, operating under the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, has initiated an extensive cyber security exercise named ‘Cyber Suraksha’ aimed at boosting national-level cyber resilience. The exercise commenced on June 16 and will continue through June 27, 2025, involving participation from more than 100 members of key national defence agencies and stakeholders.
‘Cyber Suraksha’ is structured as a multi-phase initiative designed to simulate real-world cyber threats, testing the preparedness and responsiveness of participants within a dynamic, gamified setting. The exercise combines structured educational modules with practical cyber challenge scenarios, allowing participants to effectively address emerging threats.
A notable feature of the exercise is the Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) conclave, which emphasizes strategic leadership in cybersecurity. This segment includes sessions led by distinguished experts and culminates in an impactful Table-Top Exercise, aimed at improving coordination and decision-making at leadership levels.
The Defence Cyber Agency has integrated ‘Cyber Suraksha’ into a broader strategy to instill a security-focused mindset throughout the defence sector. Regularly conducting similar exercises is part of the agency's plan to maintain continuous readiness and to encourage a proactive approach to cyber defence.
By merging technical training with leadership involvement, ‘Cyber Suraksha’ marks a significant advancement in India's initiative to fortify its cyber infrastructure and to respond adeptly to evolving cyber threats.
