College of Defence Management, Secunderabad Conducts Two-Week Defence Acquisition MDP

A two-week Management Development Programme (MDP) on Defence Acquisition Management was conducted by the Faculty of Resource Management at the College of Defence Management in Secunderabad from September 21 to October 3, 2026, bringing together officers from the armed forces and the Directorate General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) for an in-depth look at capability acquisition.

The programme was designed to familiarise participants with the nuances of Capability Acquisition and the broader defence procurement environment. According to the source material, the course covered policies, procedures, challenges and a range of perspectives linked to the acquisition process, with classroom discussions forming the core of the training.

In addition to the classroom sessions, the MDP featured expert guest speakers who offered specialised inputs on the acquisition process. The programme gave the participating officers an opportunity to examine different aspects of capability acquisition through direct interaction, structured discussions and expert presentations.

A total of 25 officers from the Tri-Services and DGAFMS attended the programme. Their participation reflected the cross-service nature of defence acquisition, an area that requires coordination across multiple branches of the armed forces as well as medical services institutions.

As part of the programme, participants also visited T-Hub and T-Works. These institutional visits were included as an additional exposure component of the two-week course, broadening the participants’ engagement beyond the classroom and guest lectures.

The College of Defence Management said the programme was conducted by its Faculty of Resource Management with a focus on the policies, procedures and challenges associated with Capability Acquisition. The two-week MDP concluded on October 3 after a series of classroom discussions, expert interactions and institutional visits.
