Chiefs of Staff Committee Introduces Comprehensive Military Quantum Mission Policy Framework

The Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC) has introduced the "Military Quantum Mission Policy Framework," a significant policy initiative designed to integrate quantum technologies within the Indian Defence Forces. This framework aims to establish technological superiority in future conflicts amidst a rapidly changing global security landscape.

This critical document focuses on institutionalizing the adoption of four key pillars of quantum technology: Quantum Computing, Quantum Materials and Devices, Quantum Communication, and Quantum Sensing and Metrology. The framework places significant importance on ensuring cooperation among the Services to incorporate these advanced capabilities into military operations effectively.

The policy was unveiled by General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), alongside Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), and Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS).

The Military Quantum Mission Policy Framework is anticipated to act as a foundational guideline for the research, development, and operational use of quantum technologies. It aims to enhance India's readiness for technology-driven future warfare while supporting the Armed Forces' goals of self-reliance, cooperation, and strategic advantage.
