Boulder Crushes Military Vehicle in Ladakh, Injuring Soldiers and Prompting Rescue Effort

A large boulder struck an Army SUV, part of a military convoy, in eastern Ladakh on Wednesday, injuring at least four soldiers, including an officer. The incident took place near Durbuk at approximately 11:30 AM, triggering an immediate rescue operation.

Officials have confirmed that the injured soldiers are being evacuated and receiving medical treatment. The Army's Leh-based Fire and Fury Corps issued a statement on X, noting, “A boulder from a cliff fell on one of the vehicles of a military convoy in Ladakh, around 1130h on 30 July 2025. Recovery action is in progress.”

The accident occurred in a high-altitude region near Durbuk, an area known for its challenging terrain and frequent landslides. The vehicle affected was part of a routine convoy when the rockfall happened suddenly.

Sources report that despite the challenging terrain, rescue teams responded promptly to secure the area and provide assistance to the injured. Further details regarding their condition and the cause of the rockfall are awaited.
