Army War College Higher Command Course Delegation Visits Golden Key Division in Clement Town
Clement Town, October 6, 2026: A delegation of Student Officers and Directing Staff from the Higher Command Course at the Army War College visited the Indian Army’s Golden Key Division at Clement Town, where they received first-hand exposure to the formation’s operational functioning, training methods and preparedness.
The visit was designed to connect the military concepts studied during the Higher Command Course with the realities faced by an operational formation. During the interaction, the delegation was briefed on the division’s operational role, its training practices and the state of readiness it maintains in a dynamic security environment.

Major General Amaresh Gunjan, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Golden Key Division, interacted with the Student Officers and Directing Staff during the visit. The exchange focused on contemporary military challenges, operational planning and the leadership responsibilities expected of senior commanders in an evolving security landscape.
The officers were also given an opportunity to understand how operational formations translate strategic and doctrinal ideas into planning, training and preparedness on the ground. The engagement offered a practical perspective on how higher-level military concepts are applied in day-to-day operational settings.

According to the Army, the interaction helped bridge lessons from higher military education with practical operational experience. Professional exchanges between the visiting delegation and the Golden Key Division leadership were intended to strengthen that link between theory and field realities.
The Higher Command Course at the Army War College is meant to prepare officers for higher command and staff appointments. Visits to operational formations are an important element of this training, exposing officers to contemporary challenges, command responsibilities and the decision-making demands associated with higher ranks.
The Army described the interaction under the theme “From Insight to Action — Building the Leaders of Tomorrow,” highlighting the value of combining professional military education with operational exposure in shaping future senior military leaders.
