Army Chief Assesses Operational Readiness Amid Strategic Review in Ladakh

General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of Army Staff, recently toured the headquarters of the Fire and Fury Corps and the Siachen Brigade in Ladakh. The purpose of his visit was to evaluate the operational readiness and review the security situation along the northern borders shared with China and Pakistan.
This visit follows the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians when militants targeted tourists in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack has prompted increased vigilance and a heightened focus on military preparedness throughout the region.

In his interactions with the troops stationed in Kargil-Leh and the Siachen Glacier, General Dwivedi praised their professionalism, bravery, and endurance under extreme high-altitude conditions. He stressed the vital importance of staying vigilant and technologically prepared in one of the globe's most challenging operational settings.

General Dwivedi also emphasized the necessity for the armed forces to swiftly adopt new technologies to keep the Indian Army combat-ready and forward-thinking. His comments resonated with the broader initiative of Atmanirbhar Bharat, which advocates for self-reliance and modernization within the defense sector.
The Fire and Fury Corps is strategically significant, given its proximity to the Line of Actual Control and its historical importance in the 1999 Kargil War. It remains central in protecting national interests in Ladakh. General Dwivedi's visit highlighted the Army's dedication to adapting to changing threats and maintaining a strong defensive stance amidst escalating geopolitical and cross-border challenges.
