Armenia and Azerbaijan Support Trump for Nobel Peace Prize Following Peace Deal at White House

US President Donald Trump received a boost in his bid for the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday when Azerbaijan and Armenia expressed their support for his candidacy. This endorsement followed a peace agreement signed by the two countries at the White House, in Trump's presence, aimed at resolving longstanding tensions between them.

During the ceremony, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev suggested sending a joint nomination to the Nobel committee alongside Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. "Maybe we agree… to send a joint appeal to award President Trump with the Nobel Peace Prize," Aliyev stated. Pashinyan concurred, adding, "I think President Trump deserves to have the Nobel Peace Prize and we will defend that, and we will promote that."

Trump's Nobel Peace Prize campaign has now garnered support from five nations. Previous endorsements came from Pakistan, Israel, and Cambodia. Pakistan's backing followed Trump's assertion that he facilitated a ceasefire between Islamabad and New Delhi, though India refuted his involvement. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a formal endorsement letter to the Nobel committee during a visit to Washington. Meanwhile, Cambodia's support was a result of U.S. mediation efforts in a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.

The peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan is the latest in a series of diplomatic accomplishments facilitated by Trump, which has further spurred his supporters to seek international recognition for his efforts.
