Air Marshal Kaushik Chatterjee Assumes Charge as DG (Organisation & Personnel), AFMS
Air Marshal Kaushik Chatterjee has assumed charge as Director General (Organisation & Personnel) in the Office of the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), a senior appointment that places him at the centre of organisational and personnel management within the military medical system.
The appointment marks an important transition in the leadership of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), which is responsible for healthcare delivery, medical readiness and personnel support across the services. In his new role, Air Marshal Chatterjee will oversee key organisation- and personnel-related matters that affect the functioning and development of the AFMS establishment.
Air Marshal Chatterjee is a psychiatrist with more than 35 years of service. During that time, he has served in a range of clinical, administrative and leadership appointments in both the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force, giving him experience across the tri-service medical environment.
That background is particularly relevant at a time when the AFMS continues to focus on strengthening healthcare delivery, improving human-resource management, advancing modernisation and maintaining operational medical preparedness. His experience across multiple service environments has given him exposure to both patient care and the wider institutional requirements of military medicine.
As Director General (Organisation & Personnel), he is expected to play a central role in institutional planning, professional development and the effective utilisation of medical personnel across the Armed Forces. The post carries responsibility for decisions that influence how the AFMS organises and deploys its human resources to meet service needs.
