Air Force Station Bhuj Marks Air Force Day by Honouring Veer Naris and Madhapar Women

Air Force Station Bhuj marked the 94th Air Force Day 2026 celebrations by hosting Veer Naris, Veeranganas and the women of Madhapar, who shared first-hand memories of how the runway was restored during the 1971 Indo-Pak War.

The gathering brought together Indian Air Force personnel and members of the local community connected to the wartime effort, turning the Air Force Day observance into an occasion of remembrance as well as gratitude. The women of Madhapar recalled the effort to restore the runway within just 72 hours, a task that has remained closely associated with the legacy of the 1971 war at Bhuj.

By welcoming Veer Naris and Veeranganas, the station also paid tribute to the families of those who made sacrifices in service to the nation. Their presence added a personal and emotional dimension to the commemorations, linking the day’s formal observance to the human stories behind the 1971 conflict.

Air Force Station Bhuj used the occasion to reflect on the bravery and sacrifice associated with the war while recognising the contribution of the people who supported the armed forces at the time. The interaction highlighted the continuing bond between the Indian Air Force and the local community, especially those whose efforts are remembered as part of Bhuj’s wartime history.

The Bhuj observance brought together remembrance and recognition, honouring the legacy of the 1971 war and the spirit of service that shaped the air station’s place in the conflict. It also served as a reminder of the role played by the women of Madhapar, whose account of the runway restoration remained central to the event’s message.

The Air Force Day event at Bhuj therefore combined ceremony with memory, recognising both the sacrifices of service families and the contribution of civilians who supported the war effort during one of the most closely remembered episodes in the station’s history.
