Air Force Station Bhuj Commemorates 93rd Air Force Day, Recognizes 1971 War Heroines

The 93rd Air Force Day was marked with a series of commemorative events at Air Force Station Bhuj, celebrating bravery, heritage, and community involvement.

During the festivities, a touching tribute was paid to the Veeranganas of the 1971 Indo-Pak War, a group of courageous women from Madhapar village. These women were instrumental in the reconstruction of the Bhuj airfield after it suffered bomb damage during the conflict. Working under difficult conditions, they spent three days restoring the airfield, enabling vital air operations to continue. Their perseverance and courage continue to serve as an inspiration to future generations.

In honor of their efforts, a walkathon was organized by the station's women, who walked alongside the Veeranganas in an act of respect and to celebrate their tenacity and patriotism.

The station also held a Static Display, highlighting the Indian Air Force's advanced capabilities. The exhibition included fighter jets, surface-to-air missile systems, radar equipment, transport vehicles, and tools used by the Garud Special Forces, showcasing the skill and commitment of the air force personnel.

The event attracted participation from various segments of society, including students, NCC cadets, veterans, and local families, highlighting the strong ties between the Air Force and the community.

Acharya Devvrat, the Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat and Maharashtra, attended the event and received a briefing on the displayed equipment. He praised the pivotal role of AF Station Bhuj during Operation Sindoor and acknowledged the importance of such initiatives in raising awareness about the Air Force's contributions to national defense. He also noted that such events inspire young people to consider careers in the Indian Air Force.

The celebrations at AF Station Bhuj served as a testament to the Indian Air Force’s illustrious history, its bond with the community, and its unwavering dedication to national service.
