Air Force Officer and Father Attacked After Objection to Alcohol Consumption at Uttar Pradesh Wedding Procession
An incident involving an Indian Air Force personnel and his father has been reported in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh. According to local police and official complaints, the two were allegedly attacked by a wedding party after they objected to disruptive behavior, which included public drinking on the road.
The altercation occurred on the Amargarh-Jahangirabad road, close to Amargarh village near Jahangirabad police station. Pratham Singh, who serves in the Indian Air Force, and his father, Jitendra Singh, a primary school principal, were returning from a family function last Thursday evening when the incident unfolded.
The Singhs' complaint details encountering a wedding procession that blocked the road with loud music and a traditional ghudchadhi ceremony. Members of the procession were reportedly drinking alcohol and dancing, causing a traffic jam. When Jitendra Singh honked his horn to clear the way, a dispute erupted.
The situation intensified after the Singhs objected to what they described as verbal abuse from the wedding attendees. The complaint alleges that the duo was subsequently attacked with sticks and iron rods, sustaining significant injuries. Both were initially treated at a nearby hospital before being transferred to the district hospital for further care.
Amid the chaos, the victims also reported the loss of a wristwatch and a gold chain.
Police responded to the situation after being notified and have registered a case against the perpetrators. Currently, seven named individuals and several unidentified persons are implicated. One accused individual has been detained and charged with breach of peace, while the investigation continues, according to the Station House Officer. Both parties have filed their respective complaints with the police.
A video of the assault has been shared widely on social media, attracting significant attention from both local residents and authorities.
