AFMS Initiates Comprehensive Sports Medicine Training Programs at AFMC Pune

The Armed Forces Medical College initiated the 4th Eight-Week Training Course in Sports Medicine for Medical Officers of the Armed Forces Medical Services on February 23, 2026. This course is designed to enhance clinical skills in managing injuries related to military training and improving overall performance within the Services.

The focus of the course is on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of sports and training-related injuries. It also covers rehabilitation protocols and performance optimisation, which are essential for maintaining operational readiness in challenging military settings.

Additionally, the AFMC has introduced a two-week elective in Sports Medicine for nine undergraduate cadets. This initiative provides early exposure to the field, emphasizing its increasing importance in military operations.

These concurrent programs highlight the dedication of the Armed Forces Medical Services to advance medical capabilities. They aim to foster evidence-based care and cultivate future expertise in sports medicine, crucial for supporting soldier health, performance, and mission success.
