AFCAT 2 2025 Notification and Exam Date

The Indian Air Force has officially released the AFCAT 2 2025 Notification inviting applications from Indian men and women for various branches as commissioned officers. The exam will be conducted for Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. Additionally, applications are also invited under the NCC Special Entry Scheme. Courses will commence from July 2026 at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit (As on 1 July 2026):

  • Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years (Born between 2 July 2002 and 1 July 2006)
    • Upper age limit for CPL holders: Up to 26 years
  • Ground Duty (Tech/Non-Tech): 20 to 26 years (Born between 2 July 2000 and 1 July 2006)

Marital Status:

  • Candidates must be unmarried at the time of course commencement. Marriage is not allowed during training.

Educational Qualification:

Detailed qualifications for each branch are provided in the full notification on the official website. Some general highlights include:

  • Flying Branch: Graduation with Physics and Math at 10+2 and a minimum 60% marks in Graduation.
  • Technical Branches: BE/BTech with minimum 60% marks.
  • Non-Technical: Graduation/Post-Graduation with relevant specialization and minimum 60% marks.

Type of Commission

  • SSC (Short Service Commission):
    • Flying Branch: 14 years (non-extendable)
    • Ground Duty: Initial 10 years, extendable by 4 more years based on performance and availability.
    • SSC officers are not eligible for pension.

Selection Process

  1. Online AFCAT Written Exam (Except for NCC Special Entry)
  2. AFSB Interview at designated centres
  3. Medical Examination

Candidates applying for NCC Special Entry are directly called for AFSB without the written exam.

 

Physical and Medical Standards

  • Must be physically and medically fit to undertake rigorous training.
  • Should be able to run 1.6 km in 10 minutes, do 10 push-ups and 3 chin-ups.

Training Details

  • Location: Air Force Academy, Dundigal (Hyderabad)
  • Flying & Technical Branches: 62 weeks
  • Non-Technical Branches: 52 weeks

 

Salary and Benefits

Rank Pay Scale (Level 10) MSP
Flying Officer ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500 ₹15,500

 

  • Stipend During Training: ₹56,100/month
  • Additional allowances: Flying, Technical, Risk & Hardship, Transport, etc.
  • Furnished accommodation, LTC, Canteen facilities, Insurance cover up to ₹1.25 crore.

  • ₹550 + GST for AFCAT entry.
  • No fee for NCC Special Entry.
