ADG NCC West Bengal and Sikkim Inspects Republic Day Preparations at Kalyani Camp

The Additional Director General (ADG) of the NCC Directorate West Bengal and Sikkim visited the outdoor camp of the 49 Bengal Battalion NCC at Kalyani on Monday, reviewing Republic Day preparations, meeting cadets taking part in competitions and observing a disaster management demonstration by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

During the visit, cadets presented a Guard of Honour to the senior NCC officer. The ADG then reviewed the unit’s preparation for Republic Day events, including Sword Drill, PM Rally and Flag Area designs. These activities formed part of the intensive training programme being carried out ahead of the Republic Day functions.

The ADG also interacted with cadets competing in the Cultural and Best Cadet categories, encouraging them as they continued their preparations and contests. The engagement was part of a wider review of training standards and cadet participation at the camp.

As part of the programme, the ADG attended a lecture and a disaster management demonstration conducted by a team from the NDRF. The session gave cadets a chance to observe disaster response techniques and understand the role of the force in emergency situations.

The ADG later visited the cadet lines and praised the Officiating Commanding Officer and his team for their efforts in maintaining quality training and looking after cadet welfare. He also urged the cadets to maintain high standards of discipline, courage and leadership.

In his interaction with the cadets, the ADG stressed the values associated with the NCC and asked them to embody the spirit of “Unity and Discipline.” The visit brought together the different strands of the camp’s activity — Republic Day preparations, competitive events, welfare measures and exposure to disaster management practices.

The visit also allowed the ADG to review the unit’s training efforts and assess the development of cadets at the Kalyani camp. The interaction reflected the NCC’s emphasis on disciplined training, leadership-building and practical exposure alongside ceremonial and competitive activities.
