Adani Defence Expands Pilot Training with ₹820 Crore Acquisition of FSTC
Adani Defence Systems & Technologies Ltd (ADSTL) and Prime Aero Services LLP have secured a majority stake in Flight Simulation Technique Centre Pvt Ltd (FSTC), the largest independent flight training and simulation provider in India. The transaction, valued at ₹820 crore, signifies a significant expansion of Adani Defence's aviation training and services capabilities.
FSTC currently manages 11 full-flight simulators and 17 training aircraft, offering a wide array of pilot training programs, including commercial pilot licenses, type-rating courses, recurrent training, and specialized aviation skill programs. The company is accredited by both the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), demonstrating adherence to top international standards.
Boasting advanced simulation centers in Gurugram and Hyderabad, as well as one of India's largest flying schools in Bhiwani and Narnaul, Haryana, FSTC has established a robust national presence and a comprehensive training ecosystem. This infrastructure positions the company to expand significantly in both civil and defense aviation training sectors.
This acquisition occurs during a period of rapid change in India's pilot training landscape. Simulator-based training, a well-established practice in civil aviation, is gaining traction in the armed forces due to its safety advantages, cost-effectiveness, and contribution to enhanced mission readiness.
According to ADSTL CEO Ashish Rajvanshi, the acquisition is a strategic move towards developing a fully integrated aviation services platform. The inclusion of FSTC enhances Adani Defence's existing portfolio, which already features MRO leaders Air Works and Indamer Technics, thereby creating a comprehensive capability that encompasses civil maintenance, general aviation MRO, defense MRO, and complete pilot training solutions.
India's civil aviation sector is anticipated to incorporate over 1,500 new aircraft in the coming years, which will significantly increase the demand for trained pilots. Simultaneously, the government’s focus on advancing simulation-based defense training opens new avenues in the defense aviation sector.
Adani Defence plans to capitalize on FSTC's expertise to augment next-generation defense pilot training and support emerging needs in simulation, mission rehearsal, and integrated aviation operations.
ADSTL operates as a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL), with Horizon Aero Solutions Ltd (HASL)—a joint venture between ADSTL and Prime Aero Services LLP—functioning as a step-down subsidiary under AEL, facilitating seamless synergy across the aviation value chain.
