20-Year-Old Detained in Alwar on Espionage Charges Linked to Pakistan

A 20-year-old man from Rajasthan's Alwar district has been detained by security agencies over suspicions of his involvement in espionage activities with connections to Pakistan.

The individual, identified as Kundan Bishnoi from Jodhpur, is believed to have been in communication with a Pakistani Intelligence Operative. Presently, he is being interrogated by various intelligence and security agencies.

Preliminary findings suggest that Bishnoi allegedly gathered and conveyed information about Indian Army cantonments and other sensitive sites in exchange for money. Authorities are delving into his communications, financial dealings, and potential ties to a broader espionage network.

The suspect reportedly gained entry to the cantonment area through a contact within the military installation. His activities drew attention on Sunday night after Army personnel observed him interacting with a female student within the cantonment. Following initial inquiries by military authorities, the matter was escalated to Army Intelligence and subsequently the Military Intelligence Area Police Station in Alwar.

A joint investigative team, including members from the Intelligence Bureau, Criminal Investigation Department, and other agencies, is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, according to sources.

During the examination of Bishnoi's mobile phone and digital records, investigators reportedly found evidence indicating that he used social media platforms like Instagram to befriend school and college students in or near the cantonment. He allegedly sought to gain their trust through regular communication and by sending costly gifts on special occasions.

Authorities are also investigating claims that the suspect transmitted sensitive information during Operation Sindoor, a significant Indian military operation in 2025. These allegations are under scrutiny, and officials have not yet disclosed the specifics of any information that may have been shared.

Officials suspect that Bishnoi might have received financial rewards for collecting and transmitting information, though the precise details are still being confirmed.

Alwar Superintendent of Police Sudhir Chaudhary commented that the investigation is still active, and further information will be released following a comprehensive review of the evidence.

Security agencies continue to examine the suspect's contacts, digital activity, and potential accomplices as part of their efforts to determine if this case is connected to a larger espionage network in the area.
